Welcome to masca year end top dog programs



Non MASCA Certificates/Titles/Qualifying scores are earned in accordance to the club's rules that you are competing with.


All title forms and win sheets must be submitted by January 15th.


Year End Awards - Conformation (conformation shows only)

-Year end awards are accumulated from Jan 1st to Dec 31st inclusive.

-There will be an overall top 10 as well as a top male and top female for the year

-Each will receive a Certificate and be placed on our Website winners page.

-1 point will be awarded for each MINIATURE AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD beat in a show.

Examples

Best of breed would count all mini aussies entered that show minus their entry.

Best female would count all of the female mini aussies entered that show minus their entry.

Top Conformation Junior Handler – Junior with the most points accumulated from Conformation Junior Handling and/or regular Conformation

Reserve Conformation Junior Handler – Junior with the 2nd highest number of points accumulated from Junior Handling and/or Conformation •


Top Performance Junior Handler- Junior with the most accumulated points from performance events.

Reserve Performance Junior Handler- Junior with the 2nd highest number of points accumulated from performance events •


Most Versatile Junior Handler – Junior with the most points accumulated from a combination of both conformation or Junior Handling AND performance events AND training/lessons. •

Reserve Most Versatile Junior Handler- Junior with the 2nd most points accumulated from a combination of both conformation or Junior Handling AND performance events AND training/lessons.


Year end Awards - Performance (all events that are not conformation shows)


-Year end awards are accumulated from Jan 1st to Dec 31st inclusive.

-Each performance sport will have a top dog for the year.

-Each will receive a Certificate and be placed on our Website winners page.

-Year end overall top 10 dogs in performance will be the dogs who have accumulated the most points combined from all performance sports

Points are accumulated by earning qualifying scores, titles and certificates. (point systems for each sport listed below)

Junior Handlers' Program Page



HERDING



The purpose of the herding tests is to offer owners of herding breeds a standardized gauge by which a dog’s basic instinct and trainability are measured. Herding tests preserve and develop the herding skills inherent in the herding breeds, and to demonstrate that they can perform the useful functions for which they were originally bred.

AGILITY



Agility is a dog sport in which a handler directs a dog through an obstacle course in a race for both time and accuracy. Handler's controls are limited to voice, movement, and various body signals. An agility course consists of a set of standard obstacles laid out by a judge in a design of their choosing. They may include jumps, tunnels, teeter, pause table, A frame and other obstacles depending on the Club.

FLYBALL



Flyball is a dog sport in which teams of dogs race against each other from a start/finish line, over a line of hurdles, to a box that releases a tennis ball to be caught when the dog presses the spring-loaded pad, then back to their handlers while carrying the ball. Flyball is run in teams of four dogs, as a relay. The course consists of four hurdles placed 10 feet apart from each other, with the starting line six feet from the first hurdle, and the flyball box.

DISC DOG



Disc dog is a dog sport. In disc dog competitions, dogs and their human disc throwers compete in events such as distance catching and somewhat choreographed freestyle catching.

NOSE WORK / SCENT DETECTION



Nose work, also called scent detection, is a sport created to mimic professional detection dog tasks. One dog and one handler form a team. The dogs must find a hidden target odor, often ignoring distractors (such as food or toys), and alert the handler. After the dog finds the odor they are rewarded with food or a toy.​

DOCK DIVING



Dock diving is a dog sport in which dogs compete in jumping for distance or height from a dock into a body of water.

BARN HUNT / RAT SPORTS



Barn Hunt and other rat sports are based on the traditional roles of many breeds in ridding farms, barns, crop storage areas, and homes of destructive vermin. Barn Hunt/ rat sports are competitions that involves dogs sniffing around a barn or barn-like course for vermin. The vermin, typically trained rats, are placed in a protective and breathable tubes.


All rata sport associations are accepted. ( instinct is not a title)

LURE COURSING



Lure coursing is a sport for dogs that involves chasing a mechanically operated lure over a long course with several turns and straight runs. Aptitude test is for non sighthound breeds to test their chase ability.

PRECISION COURSING



Very different then lure coursing, Precision Coursing is a fast-paced sport providing dogs of all sizes and speeds a productive outlet for their energy by chasing an artificial lure 150' around a safely-enclosed course.

TREIBBALL





Treibball is a positive-reinforcement, competitive dog sport which originated in Germany. The dog must gather and drive large exercise balls into a soccer goal. The object of the game is to get all eight balls into a confined space the size of a soccer goal within a set time period. The dog works in close cooperation with the handler, who is only allowed to use whistles, verbal or hand signals to direct his dog.

DRAG RACING





If your small dog loves to chase things, this

is the event for you! Perfect for any dog under

18 inches tall, Drag Racing allows dogs to

demonstrate their natural prey drive in a safe

environment. In this sport, these speedsters

charge out of the gate and down a grassy

track in pursuit of an artificial lure. The first

dog across the finish line wins!

RALLY OBEDIENCE





Rally requires teamwork between dog and

handler. The chief objective of rally is to provide

a fast-moving and motivational activity that

demonstrates the competency of handler and

dog in performing basic obedience exercises

without requiring exact precision for success. Dogs

in rally obedience events should demonstrate

willingness and enjoyment. To that end, handlers

may use praise, encouragement, and petting

throughout a rally course.Unlike regular obedience, instead of waiting for the judge's orders, the

competitors proceed around a course of designated stations with the dog in heel position. The course

consists of 10 to 20 signs that instruct the team

what to do. Unlike traditional obedience, handlers

are allowed to encourage their dogs during the course.

OBEDIENCE





Obedience is a dog sport in which a dog must perfectly execute a predefined set of tasks when directed to do so by his handler. The basic objective of obedience trials, however, is to recognize dogs that have been trained to behave in the home, in public places, and in the presence of other dogs, in a manner that will reflect credit on the sport of obedience at all times and under all conditions. Training a dog to participate in obedience increases a dog's understanding and reliability in responding to commands such as "sit", "down", "stay", "come", and "heel." At a trial, the dog and handler will perform various predefined obedience exercises, which will be evaluated and scored by a judge. The dog must demonstrate basic proficiency in order to receive a passing score.

WEIGHT PULL





Weight pulling is a dog sport involving a dog pulling a cart or sled loaded with weight a short distance across dirt/gravel, grass, carpet, or snow. It is a modern adaptation of freighting, in which dogs were used as freight animals to move cargo.

FARM DOG





This is an AKC sport. Dogs will work through a series of 12 exercises that represent situations they may come across in a farm environment, and must display trainability, self-control, confidence and trust in their owner throughout the experience. A wide variety of dogs live in rural areas, so the FDC test is intended to demonstrate good behavior in these areas.

FAST CAT/ SPRINTER





Timed 100-yard dash where a dog chases a lure. The event is a fun and healthy activity for dogs and their owners, and is open to all dogs that are at least 12 months of age. In competition, the dogs run one at a time over a straight 100-yard course. Their times are then converted into miles per hour and used as part of a handicap system to assign points earned, which will be used to determine titles and standings for that club.

TRICK DOGS





Do you and your dog love to be the life of the party by showing off his arsenal of tricks? Then he might be perfectly primed to earn Trick Dog titles. Dogs perform specific tricks to receive titles at each level.

TRACKING





Tracking refers to a dogs ability to detect, recognize and follow a specific scent. Possessing heightened olfactory abilities, dogs are able to detect, track and locate the source of certain odours by following a scent trail.

CGC/CGN/SPOT





These Programs, when completed successfully, will ensure that one of our most favoured companions, the dog, is accepted as a valued member of our communities right across the country. Dogs that successfully complete these programs can be counted on to present good manners at home, in public places and in the presence of other dogs. These tests are non-competitive and allows dog and handler to demonstrate confidence and control. It assesses the handler and dog's relationship, together with the handler's ability to control the dog. Dogs are evaluated on their ability to perform basic exercises as well as their ability to demonstrate good manners in everyday situations. AKC= CGC, CKC= CGN, UKC= SPOT

THERAPY DOG





A therapy dog is a dog that is trained to provide affection, comfort and support to people, often in settings such as hospitals, retirement homes, nursing homes, schools, libraries, hospices, or disaster areas. Therapy dogs are trained to interact with all kinds of people, not just their handlers.
