Purpose: To encourage and recognize all juniors ages 5-18 who are involved in activities and events sponsored or sanctioned by the Miniature Australian Shepherd Club of America.
Participation requirements:
1. Open to juniors ages 5-18
2. Juniors must hold a current MASCA Junior membership or must have an immediate family member that is a current MASCA member. a. Immediate family member is defined as a Mother, Father, Sister or Brother including half and step parents and siblings residing at the same address as the Junior participant.
3. Junior must exhibit a MASCA registered Miniature Australian Shepherd a. Registration can either be Full, Limited, or LEP (only dogs with Full registration may compete in regular conformation classes, Limited and LEP registered dogs may compete in the Junior Handling classes)
4. Junior exhibitor cannot have shown dogs for other people for any type of payment, trade of services, entry fees, or anything of value.
Earning points: The MASCA Junior Recognition program allows for points to be earned for participation, qualifying scores and/or titles in any Regular Conformation or Performance event held by MASCA or a MASCA sanctioned organization. Juniors must keep track of points earned at each show or event they participate in on the MASCA Junior Recognition Form. Forms must include the judge’s name and the signature of the show secretary or judge.
Additional Rules:
• Points will be accumulated from January 1 to December 31 INCLUSIVE.
• Juniors are subject to rules and regulations of each particular venue as well as all applicable MASCA rules and regulations
• Lessons include obedience, conformation/handling, agility or herding
Tallying Points:
Points will be tallied by the Junior and sent in to MASCA for verification
All completed recognition forms MUST be received by Jan 15th in order to be counted toward Year End Awards. Please send form to mascainofrmation@gmail.com
Conformation Point Schedule: Junior Handling
Regular Conformation classes
– 10 points for BOB or BIS (BIS non-MASCA venues).
- 5 points for BOS.
Junior handling classes
–15 points for BIS Jr. if against competition, 5 points no competition
-10 points for RBIS Jr. if against competition 2 points no competition
LESSONS (PER 4 HOURS) = 2 POINTS
Performance Event point system : Junior Handling
PARTICIPANT = 1 POINT
EARN A QUALIFYING SCORE= 3 POINTS
EARN A TITLE = 5 POINTS
EARN A MASCA TITLE= 10 POINTS
EARN A CERTIFICATION = 5 POINTS (THERAPY DOG for example)
LESSONS (PER 4 HOURS) = 2 POINTS
Non MASCA Titles are earned in accordance to the club's rules that you are competing with.
All win sheets and titles are to be submitted together once a title is earned. Please DO NOT send them individually, they will not be accepted by MASCA.
